Kelp Necklace – Laura Polley

Description

Inspired by the kelp on the shoreline this necklace features a saltwater casting at its centre with granite textured handmade kelp chain. Accents of gold have been applied using the ancient art of Keum Boo where 24 carat gold is fused to silver. A handmade clasp, also textured with granite finishes off the necklace.

This collection has been inspired by water and the ocean.  Each shape is made using recycled silver and cast into Atlantic Ocean seawater.  The result is these fluid unique and organic shapes. Some of the casts are reminiscent of water droplets or splashes on rocks, others of sea beans – seed pods that move around the ocean and can be carried for thousands of miles between continents.
