Keum Boo Driftwood Pendant – Laura Polley

Description

A granite-textured silver pendant with a splash salt water casting and a pile of driftwood castings.  One of the pieces of driftwood has a layer of 24ct gold fused to the surface using the ancient technique of keum boo, meaning fused gold.  Silver tube attaches the pendant to the chain.

This collection has been inspired by water and the ocean.  Each shape is made using recycled silver and cast into Atlantic Ocean seawater.  The result is these fluid unique and organic shapes. Some of the casts are reminiscent of water droplets or splashes on rocks, others of sea beans – seed pods that move around the ocean and can be carried for thousands of miles between continents.
