Join me to learn Wax Carving – a technique used to create intricate details or organic shapes where traditional silversmithing may be difficult to achieve. Learn an alternative way to create your own jewellery.
What will I learn?
In this wax carving workshop you will learn how to carve and build-up wax to produce designs ready for casting jewellery. You will be shown a range of waxes and their uses as well as be taught how to size rings in wax, cut, file, carve, smooth and build-up using a range of tools. This workshop is designed to give you an introduction to the medium so that you can carry on at home with minimal tools. An information sheet is provided to refer back to.
If you wish, we can then send your design(s) away to a casting house. The cost for this will vary depending on the weight of your design and what metal you would like it cast in to. It will then be finished and polished for you, or book an additional session to learn how to finish and polish your piece yourself.
