Silver Prices

What is happening?

Silver prices have been rising dramatically. From the end of January 2025 to January 2026 silver prices have increased by 239%. In January 2026, silver prices have already increased by 40%.*

Why the increase?

Silver is being increasingly used in tech, including building and running AI, creating a deficit.  In addition, China has been limiting exports of silver since January, which means silver prices may not stabilise for some time.

How will this affect jewellery customers?

With the costs of silver increasing so drastically not only each month but each week and even each day, jewellers have been confused as to how to cost the jewellery that we make and sell. To make sure that I have a business that is viable and keeps going long-term, prices have to reflect the current markets.  There will some restructuring of the way that Porth Jewellery is sold online and pricing will be kept in-line with silver costs. Expect to see exciting new designs appearing using other metals soon.

Ready-to-ship Jewellery.  There will be less pre-made pieces available ready-to-ship as more jewellery will be made to order.

Custom Jewellery.  If you’re after Seaglass Jewellery there will be various seaglass options available which will then be made into the ring, pendant or bangle to your size upon ordering. This will add more choice to pieces, especially rings and bangles which the size cannot be changed.  There will be an increase a delivery time to approximately two weeks so please bear this in mind if you leave gift shopping to the last minute!

Bespoke Jewellery.  If you would like Jewellery made to a bespoke design or using your own seaglass, then this comes under Bespoke Jewellery. Upon enquiry I will put together a quote for you which will be valid for seven days. Once you have confirmed your order, I will begin work and aim to complete it within two weeks, depending on the time of the year. I can discuss this with you upon ordering.

What about workshops?

All workshops currently booked will be honoured at the price you have paid.

From April, all metals used in workshops will be an additional cost on the day based on that days silver prices.  Your jewellery will be weighed at the end (before setting any seaglass) and the price calculated.  There will be an indication of prices in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the website as a guide.

Your silver jewellery is precious and should be treasured.
